BPD To Host 15-Hour Marathon Volunteer Project in Honor of Milestone Anniversary
A mere 44 miles from the glitz and glamour of Palm Beach, residents of the Glades area live within some of the worst poverty and highest unemployment rates in the country. On Friday, October 6, Brown Parker & DeMarinis Advertising (BPD) will close shop to host a 15-hour marketing and branding marathon benefitting The Glades Initiative, a nonprofit connecting locals to food and basic human services.
Despite their location in one of Florida’s major agricultural hubs, the Glades area is considered a food desert, which offers residents limited access to fresh or nutritious food. Surviving on a median income of just $10,000 (1⁄3 of the national average) with 20% overall unemployment, underserved residents of the Glades area rely heavily on community resources to get by. The Glades Initiative operates on grant funding and charitable donations to help connect beneficiaries within their community to $8 million in services, such as food through their Glades Area Food Bank, access to medical services, assistance in connecting locals to federal, state and county benefits, and sharing vital community information on a weekly basis.
To celebrate their 15th Anniversary, the BPD Advertising team will provide The Glades Initiative with a complete rebranding–including marketing assets, communication tools, and the strategies to tell their story and purpose. The goal is to help the Glades Initiative build awareness of its efforts to support and strengthen the Glades community. The Glades Initiative, also celebrating their own 15th Anniversary, will be at the event to support the project.
